Questions about our protective films

A clean surface. Therefore, take sufficient time to clean your bike. Once your bike is clean on the surfaces to be glued, you can start assembling the films.

For assembly: You do not need more than clean tap water, at best in a spray atomizer/pump spray bottle. Add a little washing-up liquid to the water to make it softer. You need 1-2 drops on 500 ml of water.

To push the air or moisture bubbles under the film, a squeegee and a microfiber clothare recommended. You will receive both with the delivery of your protective film set from us.

We strongly recommend you to check out our assembly videos in advance.

In principle, both are possible. However, we advise you to use the wet adhesive method, as it offers several advantages: You can optimally position the protective film, move it to a certain extent and, if it has not worked immediately, peel off, moisten and reposition it. For smaller surfaces, such as our protective sample films, you can do it without moisturizing and glue it dry. Nevertheless, we recommend the wet bonding process for the best possible result.

However, never save on a clean surface, as it is essential for liability.

Our protective film is set up in several layers. The surface sealing reacts to heat and causes the scratches to disappear again. You can help along with a hair dryer, otherwise the sun takes this job.

You can apply our protective films from a temperature of 15.5 °C. However, we recommend an ambient temperature of 18 °C – 32 °C, as the water used for wet bonding can evaporate much faster and the protective films are easier to use.

To provide more warmth, you can warm up the film and the substrate with a simple hair dryer. At best, avoid the assmbly at ambient temperatures below 18 °C.

When bubbles have been formed, dissolve the film very carefully and spray more mounting fluid between the protective film and the surface. Afterwards, you can easily remove the liquid with the squeegee or the microfiber cloth.

If you have overlooked a larger bubble and the film has already dried, heat this spot with a hair dryer. Using a fine needle, gently puncture the bubble from the side so that the trapped air or moisture can be squeezed out. Be very careful. Then again press on the film under the influence of the hair dryer.

Yes, this is possible without any problems with a sharp scissors or a cutter knife. Make sure you are careful with yourself and the material.

That’s a pity! Heat the film with a hair dryer, which makes it more flexible. Use the mounting fluid between the film and the surface sufficiently to facilitate the application. With a little patience you can apply the film with the squeegee to the substrate despite deformation. Adjusting overhangs are possible, they can be cut off with a sharp scissors.

Please do not use a cutter knife to protect the surface and you.

In this case, you can buy the required film again in the respective product category “single and spare parts – PartsProtect”.

We recommend treating the protective film with a water/soap solution in order to obtain the best possible appearance over many years.

In principle, don’t use cleaning utensils that can cause scratches. Fine scratches can be smoothed out with a hair dryer without any problems, thanks to the self-healing effect.

Yes, you can work with a high-pressure cleaner about 24 hours after assembling the protective film. Then the full adhesive strength of the protective film is reached.

No, we use polyurethane films that have a very high UV resistance.

There are some factors that can still change the visual properties to the negative, such as inadequate care and cleaning, sharp cleansing agents, disproportionate mechanical stress, permanently high temperatures combined with high humidity or air pollution, for example in industrial areas.

Yes, our protective films can be removed without leaving any residue. The film can be carefully peeled off at an angle of approx. 30° – 45°. If the protective film has been glued for a longer period of time, it is recommended to warm it up with a usual hair dryer. Warmth makes the removal of the film much easier.

If you still have adhesive residues left on your bike, you can simply wipe them off with some isopropanol, nail polish remover or silicone spray and a microfiber cloth.

Our films are made of polyurethane and are easy to dispose of via domestic refuse.

The carrier paper of the films has a silicone layer and is easily disposed of via the domestic refuse.
